Sam’s journey into interiors began with a degree in Surface Pattern Design from the University of Huddersfield and an award for her colour work from industry experts. This ignited a love of colour and pattern which has continued to grow and is the focus and passion behind all her creative work to this day.
Sam began her career at Laura Ashley head office as a Junior Colourist. Over the course of 14 years, she worked her way up to become the Design Manager for Home Furnishings. Working with the extensive design archive at Laura Ashley, Sam’s roles included analysing trends and researching, creating and developing design and colour concepts for all Home Furnishing departments. By working closely with suppliers and overseeing fabric and wallpaper production runs, these initial concepts were seen through to the shop floor.
After leaving Laura Ashley Sam worked with her husband Stuart in his graphic design and homewares business Studio Gardiner. However, the call of the indoors was never far away; Sam took on various design and interior renovation projects alongside this role, eventually starting her own design consultancy.
