Hop Kiln Mews
A converted barn in the National Trust Brockhampton Estate, Herefordshire
Hop Kiln Mews is one of a group of three converted barns nestled between an Oast House and a working brewery and is bursting with character. A first floor apartment for two people with an open plan bedroom featuring exposed wooden beams and a statement headboard made from corrugated iron, reclaimed from the site.
One of the most impressive and unusual features of the property is the shower room located in the circular former ‘Oast’ part of the building. Look up from the shower to glimpse the sky through the opening in the white cowl which caps the roof. We wanted a calm, contemporary feel to the barns with a slight industrial edge, inspired by their past use as well as the materials used in their construction such as rusted metal and aged wood. All are complimented with warm tones of brick, flax and golden neutrals for balance and contrast.
